TheADM(Administrative)templateledenespolicysettingsusedbyapplicationsontheclientcomputers.
Policiesarespecicsettingsthatgoverntheapplicationbehavior.Policysettingsalsodenewhetherthe
userwillbeallowedtosetspecicsettingsthroughtheapplication.
Settingsdenedbyanadministratorontheserveraredenedaspolicies.Settingsdenedbyauseronthe
clientcomputerforanapplicationaredenedaspreferences.AsdenedbyMicrosoft,policysettingstake
precedenceoverpreferences.
Forexample,ausermayputabackgroundimageonhisdesktop.Thisistheuser'spreferencesetting.An
administratormaydeneasettingontheserverthatdictatesthatausermustuseaspecicbackground
image.Theadministratorspolicysettingwilloverridethepreferencesetbytheuser.
