Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,dothefollowing:
•Usethebatteryuntilthechargeiscompletelydepleted;thatis,usethebatteryuntilthebatterystatus
indicatorstartsblinkingorange.
•Rechargethebatterycompletelybeforeusingit.Thebatteryisfullychargedifthebatteryindicator
showsgreen.
•Alwaysusepower-savingmode.Formoreinformationaboutpower-savingmode,referto“Power-saving
modes”onpage32

Managingthepowerplans
Youcanmanagethepowerplanstoachievethebestbalancebetweenperformanceandpowersaving.To
changethepowerplan,dothefollowing:
1.ClickthebatterystatusiconintheWindowsnoticationarea.ClickMorepoweroptions.
2.Selectthepowerplanasdesired.
Youalsocanchangepowerplansettings,orcreateanewpowerplan.Formoreinformation,refertothe
helpinformationsystemoftheprogram.
Power-savingmodes
Youcanusethefollowingpower-savingmodestoconservethepowerofyourcomputer.
•Screenblank(fortheWindows7operatingsystemonly)
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffpowertothedisplay,right-clickthe
batterygaugeiconfromtheWindowsnoticationareaandselectPoweroffdisplay.
•Sleep
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthesolid-statedriveortheharddiskdriveandthe
computerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.

1.ClickStart.
2.ClickthetrianglemarkontherightsideoftheShutdownicon;thenselectSleep.
–ForWindows8:
1.Movethecursortothebottomrightcornerofthescreentobringupthecharm.
2.ClickSettings➙Power➙Sleep.
•Hibernation
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavinglesorexitingfromany
programsthatarerunning.Whenthecomputerentershibernation,allopenprograms,folders,andles
aresavedtotheharddisk,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.
Toputthecomputerintohibernationmode,changeyourpowerplansettings.Toaccesspowerplan
