Beforereplacingparts:
Ensurethatallsoftwarexes,drivers,andUEFIBIOSdownloadsareinstalledbeforeyoureplaceany
FRUslistedinthismanual.
Afterasystemboardisreplaced,ensurethatthelatestUEFIBIOSisloadedtothesystemboardbeforeyou
completetheserviceaction.
Todownloadsoftwarexes,drivers,andUEFIBIOS,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/ThinkPadDriversand
followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
UsethefollowingstrategytopreventunnecessaryexpenseforreplacingandservicingFRUs:
•IfyouareinstructedtoreplaceaFRUbutthereplacementdoesnotcorrecttheproblem,reinstallthe
originalFRUbeforeyoucontinue.
•Somecomputershavebothaprocessorboardandasystemboard.Ifyouareinstructedtoreplaceeither
theprocessorboardorthesystemboard,andreplacingoneofthemdoesnotcorrecttheproblem,
reinstallthatboard,andthenreplacetheotherone.
•IfanadapteroradeviceconsistsofmorethanoneFRU,anyoftheFRUsmightbethecauseoftheerror.
Beforereplacingtheadapterordevice,removetheFRUs,onebyone,toseeifthesymptomschange.
ReplaceonlytheFRUthatchangedthesymptoms.
Attention:Thesetupcongurationonthecomputeryouareservicingmayhavebeencustomized.Running
AutomaticCongurationmayalterthesettings.Notethecurrentcongurationsettings(usingtheView
Congurationoption);then,whenservicehasbeencompleted,verifythatthosesettingsremainineffect.
