Powerproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputerisgettingnopoweratall,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythepowerswitch.Referto“System-statusindicators”onpage12.Thepowerswitchis
illuminatedwheneverthecomputerison.
2.Checkallpowerconnections.Removeanypowerstripsandsurgeprotectorstoconnecttheacpower
adapterdirectlytotheacpoweroutlet.
3.Inspecttheacpoweradapter.Checkforanyphysicaldamage,andmakesurethatthepowercableis
rmlyattachedtotheadapterbrickandthecomputer.
4.Verifytheacpowersourceisworkingbyattachinganotherdevicetotheoutlet.
5.Removealldevicesandthentestforsystempowerwithminimaldevicesattached.
a.Disconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
b.Closethecomputerdisplay,andturnthecomputerover.
c.Removethebattery.Referto“Replacingthebattery”onpage77.
d.Removethememory(SO-DIMM).Referto“Replacingmemory”onpage93.
e.RemovethePCIExpressMiniCard.Referto“InstallingandreplacingaPCIExpressMiniCardfor
wirelessLAN/WiMAXconnection”onpage90.
f.Removetheharddiskdrive.Referto“Replacingtheharddiskdrive”onpage79.
g.Waitfor30seconds,andthenreinstalltheSO-DIMMandtheknowngoodbatteryortheacpower
adaptertotestthecomputerwithminimaldevicesattachedrst.
h.Reinstalleachdeviceoneatatimethatyouhaveremovedintheearliersteps.
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotrunonbatterypower,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Removeandreseatthebatterytomakesurethatitisproperlyconnected.Referto“Replacingthe

2.Swapbatterieswithanothersimilarmodel,ifavailable.
IfanothersimilarThinkPadmodelisavailable,thenverifythatthebatterypackworksintheother
computerandthatthebatterypackfortheothermodelworksinthiscomputer.

Apowerbuttonproblem
•Problem:Thesystemdoesnotrespond,andyoucannotturnoffthecomputer.
Solution:Turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.Ifthe
systemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
Startupproblems
