Thehot-swapredundantpowersupplyaddsasecondsourceofpowertotheserver.Whentheserveris
populatedwithtwohot-swapredundantpowersupplies,itcanwithstandapowerlossfromeitherpower
supply.Thishelpsyouavoidsignicantinterruptiontotheoperationofthesystemwhenapowersupply
fails.Youcanreplaceahot-swapredundantpowersupplywithoutturningofftheserver.
Note:TomaintaintheEMIintegrityandcoolingoftheserver,installanewhot-swapredundantpower
supplyassoonasyouremovethefailingoneorcovertheotherbaywithashieldifyoujustuseonemodule
toprovidepower.
Someservermodelscomewithonlyonepowersupply.Youcanpurchaseahot-swapredundantpower
supplyoptionfromLenovo.
