Note:Thistopicappliesonlytoservermodelswith2.5-inchhard-disk-drivebays.
Forservermodelswith2.5-inchhard-disk-drivebays,youneedtoremovetheleftcagebeforehandlingthe
frontpanelboard,thefrontVGADB-15connector,andthediagnosticmodule.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:Dependingonthemodel,yourservermightlookslightlydifferentfromtheillustrationsinthistopic.
Toremoveandreinstalltheleftcage,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage87.
4.Removethefrontbezel.See“Removingandreinstallingthefrontbezel”onpage89.
5.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingandreinstallingthecoolingshroud”onpage95.
6.Ifyourserverhasaslimopticaldriveinstalled,disconnectthesignalcableandthepowercablefromthe
rearoftheslimopticaldrive.
7.Recordthecableroutingandcableconnectionsandthendisconnectthefrontpanelcable,thefront
panelUSBcable,thediagnosticmodulecable,andthecableforthefrontVGADB-15connectorfrom
thesystemboard.Then,releasethecablesfromanycableclipsortiesinthechassis.
