Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thebatteryischarged.

“Specications”onpage13,and“Operatingenvironment”onpage14.
Ifthebatteryischargedandthetemperatureiswithinrange,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:The“criticallow-batteryerror”messageappears,andthecomputerimmediatelyturnsoff.
Solution:Thebatterypowerisgettinglow.Connecttheacpoweradaptertothecomputerandplugit
intoanelectricaloutlet.
•Problem:ThecomputerdisplayremainsblankafteryoupressFntoreturnfromsleep(standby)mode.
Solution:Checkwhetheranexternalmonitorwasdisconnectedorturnedoffwhilethecomputerwas
insleep(standby)mode.Ifyoudisconnectedorturnedofftheexternalmonitor,connectitorturniton
beforeresumingthecomputerfromthesleep(standby)mode.Whenresumingthecomputerfromthe
sleep(standby)modewithoutattachingtheexternalmonitororturningiton,andthecomputerdisplay
remainsblank,pressFn+F7tobringupthecomputerdisplay.
Note:IfyouareusingFn+F7toapplyapresentationscheme,youwillneedtopressFn+F7atleastthree
timesinthreesecondstobringupthecomputerdisplay.
Note:IfyourcomputerisaWindows7model,itdoesnotsupportthepresentationscheme.
•Problem:Thecomputerdoesnotreturnfromsleep(standby)mode,orthesleep(standby)indicatorstays
onandthecomputerdoesnotwork.
Solution:Ifthesystemdoesnotreturnfromsleep(standby)mode,itmayhaveenteredsleep(standby)or
hibernationmodeautomaticallybecausethebatteryisdepleted.Checkthesleep(standby)indicator.
–Ifthesleep(standby)indicatorison,yourcomputerisinsleep(standby)mode.Connecttheac
poweradaptertothecomputer;thenpressFn.
–Ifthesleep(standby)indicatorisoff,yourcomputerisinhibernationmodeorpower-offstate.Connect
theacpoweradaptertothecomputer;thenpressthepowerbuttontoresumeoperation.
Ifthesystemstilldoesnotreturnfromsleep(standby)mode,yoursystemmaystoprespondingandyou
maynotbeabletoturnoffthecomputer.Inthiscase,youneedtoresetthecomputer.Ifyouhavenot
savedyourdata,itmaybelost.Toresetthecomputer,pressandholdthepowerbuttonfor4secondsor
more.Ifthesystemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
•Problem:Yourcomputerdoesnotentersleep(standby)orhibernationmode.
Solution:Checkwhetheranyoptionhasbeenselectedtodisableyourcomputerfromenteringsleep
(standby)orhibernationmode.
Ifyourcomputertriestoentersleep(standby)modebuttherequestisrejected,thedeviceintheUSB
connectormightbedisabled.Ifthisoccurs,doahot-unplug-and-plugoperationfortheUSBdevice.
•Problem:Thebatterydischargesslightlywhilethecomputerisinhibernationmode.
Solution:Ifthewakeupfunctionisenabled,thecomputerconsumessmallamountofpower.Thisisnot
