Replacingtheharddiskdrive

Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.

Youcanincreasethestoragecapacityofyourcomputerbyreplacingtheharddiskdrivewithoneofgreater

capacity.YoucanpurchaseanewharddiskdrivefromyourresellerorLenovomarketingrepresentative.

Notes:

•Replacetheharddiskdriveonlyifyouupgradeitorhaveitrepaired.Theconnectorsandbayofthehard

diskdrivewerenotdesignedforfrequentchanges,ordriveswapping.

•Thepreinstalledapplicationsarenotincludedonanoptionalharddiskdrive.

Handlingaharddiskdrive

•Donotdropthedriveorsubjectittophysicalshocks.Putthedriveonamaterial,suchassoftcloth,thatabsorbs

thephysicalshock.

•Donotapplypressuretothecoverofthedrive.

•Donottouchtheconnector.

Thedriveisverysensitive.Incorrecthandlingcancausedamageandpermanentlossofdataonthehard

diskdrive.Beforeremovingtheharddiskdrive,makeabackupcopyofalltheinformationonthehard

diskdrive,andthenturnthecomputeroff.Neverremovethedrivewhilethesystemisoperating,insleep

mode,orinhibernationmode.

Toreplacetheharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:

1.Turnoffthecomputer;thendisconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.

2.Closethecomputerdisplay,andthenturnthecomputerover.

3.Removethebatterypack.

4.Removetheharddiskdrive/memorymodule/miniPCIExpressCardslotcompartmentcover.

a.Loosenthescrewsthatsecurethecompartmentcover.

b.Removethecompartmentcoverasshowninthefollowingillustration.
