 Connecting USB devices

YoucanconnectaUSBdevicetoyourcomputerbyinsertingitsUSBplug

(TypeA)intotheUSBportonyourcomputer.

ThefirsttimeyouplugaUSBdeviceintoaUSBportonyourcomputer,

Windowsautomaticallyinstallsadriverforthatdevice.Afterthedriveris

installed,youcandisconnectand reconnectthedevicewithoutperforming

anyadditionalsteps.

BeforedisconnectingaUSBstoragedevice,makesureyourcomputerhas

finishedusingthedevicetotransferthedata.ClicktheSafelyRemove

HardwareandEjectMediaiconinthenotificationareaoftheWindows

desktopscreentoremovethedevicebeforedisconnecting.

Note: Typically,Windowsdetectsanewlyconnecteddeviceafterconnectingitandthen

installsthedriverautomatically.However,somedevicesmightrequireyoutoinstall

thedriverbeforeconnecting.Checkthedocumentationprovidedbythemanufacturer

ofthedevicebeforeconnecting.

Note:

• IfyourUSBdeviceusesapowercord,connectthedevicetoapowersourcebefore

connectingit.Otherwise,thedevicemaynotberecognized.

• Whenthecomputerisinsleepmode,youcanonlyusethekeyboardinsteadofthemouse

towakeupthecomputer.
