Sleepandhibernationproblems
Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmodeunexpectedly.
Solution:Ifthemicroprocessoroverheats,thecomputerautomaticallyenterssleepmodetoallowthe
computertocoolandtoprotectthemicroprocessorandotherinternalcomponents.Checkthesettings
forsleepmode.
Problem:Thecomputerenterssleepmode(thesystemstatusindicatorblinksslowlyimmediatelyafter
thepower-onself-test.
Solution:Makesurethat:
Thebatteryischarged.
Theoperatingtemperatureiswithintheacceptablerange.Referto“Operatingenvironment”onpage

Ifthebatteryischargedandthetemperatureiswithinrange,havethecomputerserviced.
Problem:Acriticallow-batteryerroroccurs,andthecomputerimmediatelyturnsoff.
Solution:Thebatterypowerisgettinglow.Connecttheacpoweradaptertothecomputerandplugit
intoanelectricaloutlet,orreplacethebatterywithachargedone.
Problem:ThecomputerdisplayremainsblankafteryoupressFntoreturnfromsleepmode.
Solution:Checkwhetheranexternalmonitorwasdisconnectedorturnedoffwhilethecomputerwas
insleepmode.Ifyoudisconnectedorturnedofftheexternalmonitor,connectitorturnitonbefore
resumingthecomputerfromthesleepmode.Whenresumingthecomputerfromthesleepmode
withoutattachingtheexternalmonitororturningiton,andthecomputerdisplayremainsblank,press
F7tobringupthecomputerdisplay.
Problem:Thecomputerdoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,orthesystemstatusindicatorblinksslowly
andthecomputerdoesnotwork.
Solution:Ifthesystemdoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,itmighthaveenteredsleeporhibernationmode
automaticallybecausethebatteryisdepleted.Checkthesystemstatusindicator.
Ifthesystemstatusindicatorblinksslowly,yourcomputerisinsleepmode.Connecttheacpower
adaptertothecomputer;thenpressFn.
Ifthesystemstatusindicatorisoff,yourcomputerisinpower-offstateorhibernationmode.Connect
theacpoweradaptertothecomputer;thenpressthepowerbuttontoresumeoperation.
Ifthesystemstilldoesnotreturnfromsleepmode,yoursystemmightstoprespondingandyoumightnot
beabletoturnoffthecomputer.Inthiscase,youneedtoresetthecomputer.Ifyouhavenotsavedyour
data,itmightbelost.Toresetthecomputer,pressandholdthepowerbuttonfor4secondsormore.If
thesystemisstillnotreset,removetheacpoweradapterandthebattery.
Problem:Yourcomputerdoesnotentersleeporhibernationmode.
