Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:Useanydocumentationthatcomeswiththerearbackplane/cagekitandfollowthoseinstructionsin
additiontotheinstructionsinthistopic.
Toinstalltherearbackplane/cagekit,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Prepareyourserver.See“Removingorextendingtheserverfromtherackcabinet”onpage63.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage63.
4.Locatetherearbackplane/cagekitbay.See“Servercomponents”onpage25.
5.Liftthemetalshieldthatprotectstherearbackplane/cagekitbay.Storetheshieldincasethatyoulater
removethekitandneedtheshieldtocoverthebay.
