ChangeSupervisorPassword
TheChangeSupervisorPasswordoptionenablesyoutosetapassword,whichdetersunauthorized
usersfromchangingcongurationsettings.Ifyouareresponsibleformaintainingthesettingsofseveral
computers,youmightwanttosetasupervisorpassword.Formoreinformationonhowtosetapassword,
see“Setting,changing,anddeletingapassword”onpage42
.
Afteryouhavesetasupervisorpassword,apasswordpromptisdisplayedeachtimeyoutrytoaccessthe
SetupUtilityprogram.YoucannotaccesstheSetupUtilityprogramuntilavalidpasswordistypedin.
Ifyouhavesetboththeuserpasswordandthesupervisorpassword,youcantypeeitherpassword.
However,tochangeanycongurationsettings,youmustuseyoursupervisorpassword.
Setting,changing,anddeletingapassword
Toset,change,ordeleteapassword,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage41.
2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectSecurity.
3.Followtheinstructionsdisplayedonthescreentoset,change,ordeleteapassword.
Note:Apasswordcanbeanycombinationofseventotenalphabeticandnumericcharacters.Formore

Enablingordisablingadevice
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoenableordisableadevice.
Note:WhentheSATA#1CongurationoptionissettoDisabled,alldevicesconnectedtotheSATA
connectors(suchastheharddiskdriveandtheopticaldrive)aredisabledandwillnotbedisplayedinthe
systemconguration.
Toenableordisableadevice,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage41.
2.Dependingonyourmodeltype,selectDeviceorselectDevice®ATADrivesSetupfromtheSetup
Utilityprogrammainmenu.
3.Selectthedesireddevicesandsettings,andpressEnter.
4.PressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu.YoumighthavetopressEscseveraltimes.
5.PressF10tosaveandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.

a.Ifyoudonotwanttosavethesettings,selectExit®DiscardChangesandExit.
b.Ifyouhavechangedthesettingsandwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,selectExit®Load
