Creatingandusingarescuemedium
Witharescuemedium,suchasadiscoraUSBharddiskdrive,youcanrecoverthecomputerfromfailures
thatpreventyoufromgainingaccesstotheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceonyourharddiskdrive.
Notes:
•Therecoveryoperationsyoucanperformusingarescuemediumvarydependingontheoperatingsystem.
•Therescuedisccanbestartedinalltypesofopticaldrives.
Creatingarescuemedium
TocreatearescuemediumontheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.FromtheWindowsdesktop,clickStart➙AllPrograms➙LenovoThinkVantageT ools➙Enhanced
BackupandRestore.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramopens.
2.IntheRescueandRecoverymainwindow,clicktheLaunchadvancedRescueandRecoveryarrow.
3.ClicktheCreateRescueMediaicon.The“CreateRescueandRecoveryMedia”windowopens.
4.IntheRescueMediaarea,selectthetypeoftherescuemediumyouwanttocreate.Youcancreatea
rescuemediumusingadisc,aUSBstoragedevicewithsufficientcapacity,orasecondaryinternal
harddiskdrive.
5.ClickOKandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentocreatearescuemedium.
Usingarescuemedium
DependingonwhetheryouhavecreatedarescuemediumusingadiscoraUSBharddiskdrive,doone
ofthefollowing:
•Ifyouhavecreatedarescuemediumusingadisc,dothefollowing:
1.Turnonorrestartyourcomputer.
2.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,repeatedlypressandreleasetheF12key.TheStartupDeviceMenu
windowisdisplayed.
3.Selectthedesiredopticaldriveasthefirstbootdevice.Then,inserttherescuediscintotheoptical
driveandpressEnter.Therescuemediumstarts.
•IfyouhavecreatedarescuemediumusingaUSBharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:
1.ConnecttheUSBharddiskdrivetooneoftheUSBconnectorsonyourcomputer.
2.Turnonorrestartyourcomputer.
3.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,repeatedlypressandreleasetheF12key.TheStartupDeviceMenu
windowisdisplayed.
4.SelecttheUSBharddiskdriveasthefirstbootdeviceandpressEnter.Therescuemediumstarts.
Whentherescuemediumstarts,theRescueandRecoveryworkspaceopens.Thehelpinformationfor
eachfeatureisavailablefromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.Followtheinstructionstocomplete
therecoveryprocess.
