1.Releasetheleversecuringthemicroprocessorretainerandopentheretainertoaccessthe
microprocessor.
2.Graspthemicroprocessoronthesidesandliftitstraightupandoutofthesocket.Donottouchthe
contactsonthemicroprocessorsocket.
3.Lowerthemicroprocessorretainer,andthenlowerthelevertosecuretheretainer.Makesurethe
leverislockedintoposition.
4.Notetheorientationofthesocketcover,andinstallonesideofthesocketcoverintothemicroprocessor
socket.

5.Carefullypresstheothersideofthesocketcoverdownwarduntilthesocketcoversnapsintoposition.
6.Carefullycheckthefourcornersofthesocketcovertomakesurethatthecoverissecuredinthe
microprocessorsocket.
7.Followanyadditionalinstructionsincludedwiththereplacementpartyoureceived.

Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheprimaryharddiskdrive.
Toreplacetheprimaryharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputeranddisconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage70.
3.Locatetheprimaryharddiskdrive.See“Locatinginternaldrives”onpage67.
Note:Thereisalsoasecondaryharddiskdrivebayforyoutopurchaseandinstallasecondaryhard
diskdrivebyyourself.Ifyouwanttoinstallasecondaryharddiskdrive,usethesamewayofinstalling
theprimaryharddiskdrive.
4.Disconnectthesignalcableandthepowercablefromtheharddiskdrive.
5.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheharddiskdrive.Then,slidetheharddiskdriveoutofthechassis.
