Thepowertorunyourcomputercomeseitherfromtheacpowerprovidedbytheacpoweradapterofyour
computer,orfromthelithium-ion(Li-ion)batteryprovidedwithyourcomputer.Whileyouuseacpower,the
batterychargesautomatically.
Whenyouuseyourcomputerawayfromelectricaloutlets,youdependonbatterypowertokeepyour
computerrunning.Differentcomputercomponentsconsumepoweratdifferentrates.Themoreyouusethe
power-intensivecomponents,thefasteryouconsumebatterypower.
Usingtheacpoweradapter
Theacpoweradapterthatcomeswithyourcomputerhastwobasiccomponents:
•Thetransformerpackthatconvertsacpowerforusewiththecomputer.
•Thepowercordthatconnectstotheacoutletandtothetransformerpack.
Attention:Usinganimproperpowercordcouldseverelydamageyourcomputer.
Connectingtheacpoweradapter
Toconnecttheacpoweradapter,dothefollowing:
Note:Ensurethatyouperformtheactionsintheorderinwhichtheyarelisted.
1.Connectthepowercordtothetransformerpack.
2.Connecttheacpoweradaptertothepowerconnectorofthecomputer.
3.Connectthepowercordtoanelectricaloutlet.
Tipsforusingtheacpoweradapter
•Whentheacpoweradapterisnotinuse,disconnectitfromtheelectricaloutlet.
•Donotbindthepowercordtightlyaroundthetransformerpackwhenthepowercordisconnectedto
thetransformerpack.
•Ifthebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationareashowsthatthebatterypowerremainingislow,
youcanchargethebatterywhentheacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputer.
Note:Beforeyouchargethebattery,makesurethatthebatterytemperatureisatleast10°C(50°F).
Checkingthebatterystatus
Thebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationareashowsthepercentageofbatterypowerremaining.
Therateatwhichyouusebatterypowerdetermineshowlongyoucanusethebatteryofyourcomputer
betweencharges.Becauseeachcomputeruserhasdifferenthabitsandneeds,itisdifficulttopredicthow
longabatterychargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
•Howmuchenergyisstoredinthebatterywhenyoubegintowork.
•Thewayyouuseyourcomputer.Forexample:
–Howoftenyouaccesstheharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive.
–Howbrightyoumakethecomputerdisplay.
–Howoftenyouusethewirelessfeatures.
